What Goes Around

After everything Chillack 2, Echoes of Serenity has taken us through so far, “What Goes Around” arrives with something different: peace.

This uplifting song carried by the smooth, intimate voice David Martin turns the album’s journey inward, asking a deceptively simple question: “What are we putting into the world, and what are we hoping will come back?

Ironically the song suggests that kindness, love, generosity, and gratitude have a way of traveling farther than we realize. A small gesture can leave us and continue moving through someone else’s life, touching another heart somewhere down the line.

That idea fits beautifully with the reflective atmosphere of Chillack 2.

Though there is a subtle warning midway through about selfishness leading to eternal starvation, it’s immediately contrasted with thankfulness leading to transcending the transient nature of life.

The earlier tracks have felt like different stages of a serene odyssey ranging from the transformative late afternoon City travel to some romantic moments.  “What Goes Around” is where we stop looking at the destination and consider the footprints we’ve left behind.

This exquisite mood is set with piano, synths, and the soulful vocals of David Martin.

That is one of the reasons this song feels so appropriate at this point in Chillack 2. The album has been moving through different moods and ideas, but this song suggests that none of those experiences exist in isolation. Everything connects. Every choice becomes part of a larger journey.
